Sapphire is a variety of
the mineral species corundum. Sapphires occur in all colors of the
rainbow with the exception of red, which is ruby. The name corundum
comes from the ancient Sanskrit "kuruvindam", while the
name "Sapphire" comes from the Persian word "safir",
meaning "beloved of Saturn", (or Greek sapphiros). It is
noted in several texts that sapphire was the lapis lazuli of the
ancient world, probably because the stones both have the same
intense blue coloring. Sometimes white sapphires, rubies, and blue
sapphires are found in the same mine, and that is why there is a
mixture of colors in the crystals of these gems. Ruby is harder than
white sapphire (known as pukhraj), and blue sapphire is harder than
ruby and it is hardest of all. Blue Sapphire (Neelam/Nilam Stone) is
the stone of planet Saturn, Shani. Saturn is the slowest planet in
the solar system. As per Indian astrology, Saturn takes almost 2
years six months of time to transits from one house to another. By
wearing a Blue Sapphire (NEELAM), the financial hurdles are
magically removed out of a native’s life. Blue Sapphire has the
divine power to give mental peace, wealth & happiness by
removing all hurdles of the native’s life.
